Saskatchewan Adoption Resources

Public Adoption
Saskatchewan Community Resources and Employment is in charge of adoptions. Contact your regional office.
An Adoption caseworker will arrange an appointment, then homestudy done.

Private Adoption
Private adoption is allowed. Birth parents may make arrangements with someone they know to adopt their child. A homestudy is conducted by an independent practitioner approved by Community Resources and Employment. An independent adoption is processed through the court with the help of a lawyer. Christian Counselling Services of Saskatoon is the only licensed agency in Saskatchewan that provides adoption services.

International Adoption
Contact your regional office of Saskatchewan Community Resources and Employment.
An Adoption Caseworker will arrange an appointment, and information changes frequently.
Homestudies must be completed by licensed social workers approved by the Province, however, residents may chose to work with out-of-province adoption agencies or facilitators.

Open Adoptions
Since 1989, Saskatchewan Community Resources and Employment has offered "open" adoptions as an option.

Search/Reunion
The Saskatchewan Post Adoption Registry was established in 1982 to handle requests for information or contact from those involved in the adoption process. Services through the Post Adoption Registry include provision of non-identifying information, search, contact, passive registration, specific documents, and special search services. Saskatchewan Community Resources and Employment charges fees for these services.
